Lucy Vodden was a classmate and friend of Julian Lennon in Liverpool, England. The two had an art project in preschool. Lucy Vodden drew a picture of herself. When John had come to the school to pick up Julian with his limo, he had stopped to take a look at what the 4 year old kids were drawing. When asked by John what was the drawing all about? The picture was described as, Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds. Later, John had used the name of the drawing done by Lucy and Julian as the title of one his songs that he wrote in 1967. Many people had speculated that John called LSD Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. He had denied the reference.
Lucy Vodden died on September 28, 2009 in London at the young age of 46 from Lupus. She was friends with Julian Lennon when they were in preschool, but later lost touch with each other.
