| Jennifer Lopez wore Lorraine Schwartz's earrings to the Academy awards |
It was announced that after just 6 months of dating that Kim Kardashian is engaged to a basketball player who is 6 years younger than she. Kim is 31 and Kris Humphries is only 25. He is an NBA player with the New Jersey Nets. The couple announced their engagement today. The engagement ring is a 2 million dollar Lorraine Schwartz 20.5 caret diamond. That is the size of a nickel on a finger. Lorraine Schwartz is a third generation jewelry designer based in New York City. She sells to Bergdorf Goodman and privately from her showroom on Fifth Avenue. She is known for loving nature and many of her designs are inspired by objects of nature. For example, she has a monkey collection. She also has designed a serpents bracelet. Many of her customers are Hollywood celebrities and people from the music industry such as Beyonce, and Jennifer Lopez. The question is was 2 million dollars really paid for the ring or is that what it is worth? The amount of publicity for the designer will open up a lot more doors for her, even though she has been very successful already. Why would the price be publicised? It was also reported that Ms. Kardashian will make money off of the engagement by selling pictures, etc. Not sure if that is true, but if it is, it sounds more like a business deal then. Only time will tell.
