Oprah Moves to Mansion in California from Apartment in Chicago: Her home was purchased for 50 million in 2001 and why it is so special

Oprah's home in Montecito, California
Oprah had lived in Chicago for a long time on the Miracle Mile in a high rise apartment facing Lake Michigan.
Now that Oprah is done with Harpo Productions doing the Oprah Winfrey show out of Chicago she will be living in Montecito, California.  It is a small hamlet near Santa Barbara.  She had purchased the home in 2001 for 50 million dollars from Robert Veloz and his wife Marlene. The couple  bought the property for 14 million dollars in  1998.  They were living in the 2000 sf gate house at the time when Oprah had first seen the property. She was a photo shoot for her magazine, O.   Oprah's home is on 42 acres with a 23,000 sf house that has 6 bedrooms and 14 baths.  There is a home theater and a man made lake.  The property has an interesting history. The original owners were John and Eloise Bacon from the Libby-Owens Ford glass company who had owned the home since 1934. Eloise actually lived until she was 100 years old.  Oprah is probably very excited about moving there full time. She will probably spend a lot of time in New York City too.
