Typhoon Chedeng- PAGASA Weather Update-May 24, 2011- 5:00 A.M..
Is Typhoon Chedeng the manifestation of the start of rainy days in Philippines?At 4:00 am today, Tropical Storm "CHEDENG" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 540 km East of Borongan, Eastern Samar ( 11.9°N, 130.8°E) with maximum sustained winds of 105 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 17 kph.
Forecast:
Eastern and Northern Samar provinces, Sorsogon and Catanduanes will have rains and gusty winds while the rest of Visayas and Southern Luzon and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rainshowers and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. The rest of Luzon will be mostly cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thundestorms.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast to Northwest will prevail over Mindanao and the rest of Visayas and Southern Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the East to Southeast with slight to moderate seas.
