yeah that's way over my head. not really sure what to tell you. i kinda tried to do it earlier this fall, with no luck either
I'll post it elsewhere when I get home. I have seen a number of very similar problems that seem to stem from bad wu's so I'll keep trying. It would be my luck though to have the first wu be bad making me think my set up isn't right.

That my 2008 iMac is one of the affected ones of the infamous 8800 GS card failures.
After gaming today, the computer completely locked up. Tried several reboots, but the computer just freezes and the screen flickers a little. The odd thing is though, that the mouse pointer still works.
I'm almost certain this is a gfx card issue because these model iMac's have been known to fail. The HDD was just replaced this year, so it can't be that.
The GPU temperature is around 150F...
Anyway, what do you think Apple will tell me? I bought this computer on December 25, 2009 so I still have one year and a half left on Applecare.

I was thinking of going to Eaton Centre, but reading after reading some tweets about the massive lineups, I decided to go to Yorkdale instead. I got there at 1:30 and there were about 300 people before me. At 6:30, I walked out with the iPad of my choice. Sweet!

After some research my top 3 sorted options are:
1.- OCZ Vertex 2 120GB
2.- Intel X25-M 120GB
3.- Samsung 470 Series 128GB
I will be using it as my boot drive for Mac OS X 10.6.7, any suggestion which one would be the best option for speed ?, thanks

Last year, Engadget ran a (mostly) correct rumor about the 2G ATV.

"For those still interested in keeping their content close, there will be an option to utilize a Time Capsule as an external storage component, but the main course will be all about streaming."
I've been waiting ever since for some sort of Time Capsule / iTunes Server.

Okay, for version 3.0, what if you could enter the specs you want (i.e. combo drive, FW800, USB2, 128 MB Vram), and then it would give you the various machines that can be configured that way, with prices.

SL has been rock solid for me...can't remember the last time i even had a crashed. You've probably something over thats being screwing up somethings. Maybe rebuild launch services, repair permissions, run cron scripts, clear out your cache and do a file systems check.
SL for me has been arguably a better OS than Leopard with the exception of it's expose implementation.

I got the Dr. Bott mini DisplayPort Extension Pro cable (http://store.apple.com/us/product/H2477ZM/A?fnode=MTY1NDA3Ng&mco=MTg5OTIwMTE&s=topSellers) (2meter). Note, that link is to the Apple site but I didn't buy it there since almost anywhere else is cheaper.
There are others on the market too and other lengths (e.g., Dr. Bott has a 1m cable). The only two "problems" associated with mDP extension cables are (a) they may be hard to find in stock -- Dr. Bott was a problem at the time I went looking for them and (b) if you want to be able to pass audio through the mDP you need to make sure the cable supports that. For example you can find mDP extension cables in a lot of places but not all also support the audio (for example, monoprice (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10246&cs_id=1024602&p_id=5502&seq=1&format=2)).

It really, really depends on what your platform and application is. NO ONE can give you good advise without knowing those two things. You probably want a consultant to help you design this properly if you aren't an expert.

And not only Excel, but to 100% guarantee things look the same, you need to use the PC version (if you're dealing with PC customers) and you need to make sure you use a font that they have, the same screen resolution they are running, etc.
That's a good point. I have no problems myself, but it's not 'mission critical' stuff where I'm emailing reports to customers, etc. I have a Mac and my co-workers have PC's, and we have had no problems with inter-office compatibility.

I got my 10.5 yesterday, but I still want to go to the apple store near my office (it's only a block away). Do you guys think they will be giving the free stuff to only people who buy leopard, or does anyone in the crowd get one? I plan to buy a new bag and some accessories for my MacBook.
