I hope this is standard on ios5. It is pretty rediculous for the data to be there and yet the ipad doesnt use it
if they do include that feature in ios5, i'm sure they'll require an ipad 3 to be able to use it.

Well all, after many months of tryign to figure out what computer to get I finally got myself a new 17incher. First, thanks to all those who helped me figure out what to do. Secondly I'd like to say that when I was driving the 60 miles hoem from the apple store wiating to open up the computer I was a little nervous that i might have gotten one that is too large for me, and I should have stuck with the 15 incher. Well now I've had the computer home fora few hours, and must say... I absolutely positively made the right choice size wise. This computer is somethign I need for traveling, so its small form make it an easy companion for trips, and I don't need it on a plane so much, so that's fine. Right now I'm playing puzzle pirates writing this and watchign a movie n small mode, and can see most everything. For anyone trying to decide between a 15 ich and a 17 inch, relaly the real estate space on the 17 inch is to die for. I didn't think it'd matter that much to me, but coming from an old 15inch apple flat panle to this, well there's just no comparison. Everything is so nice and open, not cramped at all. Also I'd liek to say that this screen is gorgeous, and whiel I haven't watched a movie on full screen mode, I can't wait to see how it does. I suppose that's all i have for now. Feel free to ask me questions, as I'd love to answer them. I'm so incredibly happy with my computer right now that I don't wanna go to sleep, and would rather tinker around with it all night. Anyway like i said, if you've got questions jsut ask.

Learn something new everyday! :D But to clarify, you have to be in the volumes directory first, and it does actually have to start with "New" right? ;) But I did the same trick with another volume and it worked nicely. Very cool.
You can use it for guessing commands as well. It will list out the possible permutations if there is more than 1.

Hi guys,
Tried to do a search, but couldn't find anything.
I want to extend my bluetooth range on an iMac in order to use peripherals in the next room.
Not very tech savvy wrt opening up the Mac and soldering on a new antenna. Are there any other options?
Thanks so much! :)

This is how I did it on my iBook about a year ago. However, you must be VERY careful with this method... it could screw up your system severely if not done correctly! For that reason, I recommend not doing this method if you're uncomfortable with the possible outcomes from the mistakes and waiting until someone posts an alternative way. However, if you ARE comfortable...
Open up the Terminal.
Type in the following:
cd /
sudo rm -rf "System Folder"
Exactly like that, quotes and everything. You will be prompted for a password after entering the last line.
This deletes everything, without question, from "System Folder" which is your Mac OS 9 folder. Making a slight mistake and entering rm -rf "System" will delete your entire OS X system folder! So once again, I advise being extremely careful with this method, and finding an alternative if you are uncomfortable with it.

Most likely, the buyer will send you back a Core 2 Duo machine and keep your i5. Did you jot down the serial number with pictures before you sent the computer to him/her?

Well... I was so anxious to get the Vertex 3 that I jumped on Pixmanias offer to deliver faster than any other mainland suppliers and even cheaper. Therefore I cancelled my order at always reliable Dustin.dk. I shouldn't have done that :S
What happend is this.
I cancel at Dustin having found better price and faster delivery.
I order at Pixmania.com
They write they'd be able to send the item from april 1st.
April 1st comes, but the date gets pushed to april 5th.
April 5th comes, but the date gets pushed to april 8th.
I write them to cancel my order, and here's where then chain comes off the wheel...
After cancelling, I immediately check my bank account, and I'll be damned... the bastards reserved the cash amount for the item.
First of all, I don't see a reason why they would reserve money in advance for an item they don't even have in stock and by pushing the dates give me the impression that they wont likely have it any time soon.
But the worst I think is reserving the money after I cancel... what the hell!?
I my nerdrage I ofcourse head straight out to look at reviews (yeah... next time do that before I buy something... I know) and atleast in Denmark where I live, Pixmania.com is getting hammered for bad service, faulty items, and a logistics circus when returning items (mind you, apparently you pay for returning the item yourself :O... hallo, are we living in the 90s??)
So do yourself the favor, don't buy at Pixmania, the reduced price is not worth the trouble you'll go through in case something is wrong :(

Requires the updated version of the me.com Calendar. I keep meaning to upgrade since I finally meet all the prereqs, but so many people had issues when they first rolled this out that I just haven't budgeted the time (to fix what it might screw up in my calendards) to get this done.
roadbloc, I see what you mean, but it would be nice to be able to add an event on a friend's computer and still be able to get the alert on my iPhone. Right now I can create an event on me.com but the actual alert has to be set up from my iPhone (or from Calendar on my Mac).

There aren't a lot of unique layouts Microsoft could have used. It doesn't look unique, but neither did iTunes Store layout.
This looks like Windows, or a Microsoft product, or a popular 3-pane layout.

I'll dig for the rubber feet and smaller pieces.
send me an offer for the batteries and i'll let you know. It depends where I have to ship them to, but i'm not really sure what these go for now :)

Question:
Should a mac pro server have less speed and more grunt, whereas a workstation have more speed and less grunt?
Thoughts and feelings on it
( I have to deploy some osx servers but a master workstation does a huge amount of work, so trying to spend the cash best)
It's best to have both more grunt and speed for either :)
Otherwise it depends on the applications you use, if your apps take full advantage of multi-core/parallel processing than you would gain more from
dual procs at lower speed than one at high. For servers it's always high i/o, multiple requests and threads, so the more cores and RAM the merrier.

I don't think anyone actually thought TiBooks/iBooks would be updated at Paris...
the only hints have been low powerbook supply reports (which are nonspecific), and a competely BS report about dual G5's via reader email at MacBidouille.
