‘Amaya Balik Tanaw’ Airs this Sunday, June 5, 2011

Due to a growing public clamour, GMA Network airs anew the pilot week of the revolutionary epicserye that hooked the country instantaneously with the TV specialdubbed as Amaya Balik Tanaw this Sunday, June 5, right before Party Pilipinas.

This pilot week rerun will give the televiewers another chance to watch in full swing the much anticipated pilot week of the historical epicserye which showcases the world-class production values created and produced in the local setting this year. It will also feature the extreme and realistic fight scenes, elaborate sets, villages, infrastructure and costumes patterned according to the primeval times that make this soap opera a journey to a world beyond compare.

Led by an A-list roster of cast, it takes pride in assembling the hottest and brightest Kapuso stars with Primetime Queen Marian Rivera in the lead role as the warriorprincess Amaya. It also introduces two handsome and heroic men who will be rivals for the love of Amaya played by award-winning actor Sid Lucero as Bagani and the rising Kapuso star, Mikael Daez as Lumad.

Amaya easily captivated the hearts of Filipino viewers after its promising rating performance during its debut last May 30. Its unique storyline has been well-received by TV audiences, as it continues dominating its timeslot during the pilot week.

Amaya Balik Tanaw airs this Sunday, June 5, before Party Pilipinas on GMA-7.

What or who is "Bakunawa" as mentioned in GMA's epic-serye "Amaya"? In a funny thought, I can sense that the world "Bakunawa" will replace "Kurimaw" knowing the Filipino's great sense of humor.

The Bakunawa, also known as Bakonawa, Baconaua, or Bakonaua, is a deity in Philippine mythology that is often represented as a gigantic sea serpent. It is believed to be the god of the underworld and is often considered to be the cause of eclipses.
It appears as a giant sea serpent with a mouth the size of a lake, a red tongue, whiskers, gills, small wires at its sides, and two sets of wings, one is large and ash-gray while the other is small and is found further down its body.
Tales about the Bakunawa say that it is the cause of eclipses. During ancient times, Filipinos believe that there are seven moons created byBathala to light up the sky. The Bakunawa, amazed by their beauty, would rise from the ocean and swallow the moons whole, angering Bathala and causing them to be mortal enemies.
To keep the Bakunawa moons from completely being swallowed, ancient Filipinos would go out of their homes with pans and pots, and would make noise in order to scare the Bakonawa into spitting out the moon back into the sky. Some of the people in the villages would play soothing sounds with their musical instruments, in hopes that the dragon would fall into a deep sleep. Thus, the brave men of the village hoped that while the dragon was hypnotized by the musical sounds they could somehow slay the dragon. Although the dragon was known as a "moon eater" it was also known as a "man eater".
Other tales tell that the Bakunawa has a sister in the form of a sea turtle. The sea turtle would visit a certain island in the Philippines in order to lay its eggs. However, locals soon discovered that every time the sea turtle went to shore, the water seemed to follow her, thus reducing the island's size. Worried that their island would eventually disappear, the locals killed the sea turtle.
When the Bakunawa found out about this, it arose from the sea and ate the moon. The people were afraid so they prayed to Bathala to punish the creature. Bathala refused but instead told them to bang some pots and pans in order to disturb the serpent. The moon is then regurgitated while the Bakunawa disappeared, never to be seen again.
The island where the sea turtle lays its eggs is said to exist today. Some sources say that the island might just be one of the Turtle Islands.

Watch Amaya on GMA 7- Primer- "Amaya the Making of an Epic"

"Amaya" the much anticipated epicserye on GMA-7 will have its Primer on May 28, 2011-Saturday " The Making of an Epic".

According to GMA Network it is so far the most expensive and grandest show that the Kapuso Network has ever produced. The show Primer will be hosted by Cesar Montano (who's Andres De Saya is also set to Premiere).

The Making of an Epic also highlights the making of the ornate, complex and realistic production design by renowned designer Rodell Cruz and intricate yet beautiful and distinguished period costumes by Gino Gonzales.
The breathtaking cinematography, production designs, costumes, dialogues and a powerful cast--all these excellence, are under the direction of the multi-awarded director Mac Alejandre.

It seems like Amaya is a "Movie" made for television it is a first of its kind and a-must epic-serye to watch!

Amaya Grand Premiere on GMA Telebabad- May 30, 2011

Marian Rivera was overhelmed in grand presscon of Amaya and nearly cries. Marian also clarifies about some issues about her. She said she had no right to be late and have tantrum on the set with all these grand projects that GMA is giving her denying the issue that she's always late and sometimes throw tantrums on the set of Amaya.

Marian also says this is so far her biggest tv project and the topless scene is a must on Amaya as it is required by the story.

Amaya is an upcoming Philippine historical drama created and developed by Suzette Doctolero (who also develop Encantadia), with Marian Rivera in the title-role. Directed Mac Alejandre, it is set to premiere on May 30 on GMA Network and on June 1, 2011 on GMA Pinoy TV, two days after its original premiere.

Marian Rivera- Topless in Amaya!

The star of Amaya "Marian Rivera" talks about her topless scene on GMA's biggest Primetime show. According to Marian it was never an issue with her and actor-boyfriend Dingdong Dantes. She even send Dingdong a regular SMS photo from Amaya set.

“Hindi ko na rin iniisip ang topless scene ko dahil kailangan. Mas iniisip ko na maganda ang story ng Amaya, maganda ang set at mahuhusay ang mga kasama kong artista. Lagi kong pinapadalhan si DingDong Dantes ng MMS ng mga picture ko sa set, pati sa presscon ngayon, ’di isyu sa amin ang pagta-topless ko.”

Amaya- GMA Network spend bigtime- ancient warship cost over Php1 million

As Amaya, Marian Rivera has two love interests: Prince Bagani (played by Sid Lucero) and Lumad (portrayed by Mikael Daez). GMA-7 commissioned 50 artisans to create an ancient warship called Karakoa that cost over P1 million and the costumes alone reached 3 million marks.
