Gambling,Girls and Guns...a mix that often ends badly

What a great mix of talent. Our latest self commissioned photo "shoot" was a "blast".

We compose these shoots because we love making images and it keeps us inspired it also demonstrates to the participants of our photography and lighting courses that fantastic images can be composed in-camera with very little post production Photoshop work.

Jessi and Maree ( right) were the Burlesque show girls in the shoot.Maree, my business partner, let go of her usual roll as studio manager,admin,second photographer and make up artist to be the talent in the shoot.

Jessi bought a great look and vibrance to the session.



Maree and Jimmy were there Friday night...Jimmy seemed on edge and when he is like that his friends know to choose their words carefully...

Friday nights at Brett warehouse are usually start out light hearted...

Usually as the night goes on the mixture of Money, Girls, Booze and Greed ups the stakes ....someone always takes things too far. Matt made a comment about Jimmy's suit....

It only takes a small spark to start a raging fire... Matt didn't see it coming...

The next day it was Mr William O who said to the detectives, Matt said he was going for a long drive.... Matt is still missing....

Runge Photoshoot-Australia Square

Hal Morris and his staff at Runge in Australia Square made our job very easy on our recent corporate photo shoot. The brief from the marketing company was . Natural images, as many unposed shots as posible,casual,natural with some movement

We always cover all bases and over deliver. We fill the brief and add some posed shots and also office details, such as desks,ornaments/props, etc as a fill for the graphic artists to use in printed material.

Shoot up close.

Grab some wide shots, with the file sizes in cameras today they can be cropped portrait.The image below can be used im many ways.

Its important when using mixed ligting to remeber whats important in the shot, I keep skin tomes as real as possible.We had natural light,fluros,tungsten and some new leds....

We shot about 300 images making sure that some were composed left,right and room for text over.

Important to vary perspectives and shoot landscape and portrait versions

Its important to check with the client that all OH&S is practised and confidential files, graphics, screen shots etc are all fine to publish. Make sure the team is wearing the current uniform and logos etc.

We collect releases from everyone in the images if they are recognisable.

There are times when we will allow images to distort at the edges to get the wide shot.

Fly on the wall tactics is our speciality..up close with a 12-24 lens produces images that has the viewer "sitting in" the scene

Shooting different aspects like through the glass during an emplyees job review can create an interesting image. The client agreed and chose this image ( below).

Serious and light hearted captures were included, there are times when the photographer may need to lessen the seriousness of the shoot.Appropriate diaologue is alwaysd important.Many people in corporate shoots are not comfortable being photographed...I talk a lot and feel the clients interests out.

Changing the position of the presenter is a good thing, the client chose this as well as men presenting.

We offer our clients many services including high quality image capture on digital or film. Extensive digital post production service are available also.

These images (below) we compiled for a 2m high trade show banner for metso minerals. File sizes of 2 gig and more require computer hardware with "grunt" and this is what we have in our studio."Computers with Grunt"

Many of the machines we photograph cannot be moved from where they are constructed this is where our deep etch technique. We can drop our clients 80 tonne machine onto any background they choose, including white. We consider many factors in producing the finished image.Such as; the centre image in the banner above was dropped onto a background that was off white, this gives the impression that the mining screen white is BHP chosen colour looks SUPER white as the result.

Industrea Mining Equipment another of our mining clients wants their machines presented in the best way possible for their sales brochures overseas.

So after we capture the images such as the Grader and the 80T choc carrier below we then deep etch them and drop them on white for their graphic artist to place in the required setting.

The finished images have far more appeal.

Maree gave Shaynon two looks during the shoot.

Shaynon has hair to the waist,Maree used this to create her "hair band"

Maree went for a classic look for the second one.These images are pretty much staraight out of the camera

My favoute is the classic look in monochrome.Colouring the shadows. This was a technique that was very popular in our "Perfect Black & Whites" workshop.

DRIVE LINE MAGAZINE photo shoot of Peter Holliday

Peter Holliday has built an amazing business.Starting as a driver he now runs 19 trucks out of his yard at Cardiff.We were commissioned by one of our South Australian clients to shoot Peter and include his latest Mercedes Truck for DRIVELINE MAGAZINE .The brief was to photograph this as a working truck not a Pirelli calender. This truck runs 22 hours a day every day with 2 drivers , travelling up and down the coast.

Peter and his crew were great subjects, allowing us to move the truck around , this meant that they had to make up for lost time in their schedule.

Capture a white truck in front of a white building on top a grey concrete yard and allow for text over in the publication.Sometimes there is no room time wise on a commercial shoot to bring in strobe lighting , so its very important to capture as many angles and close up details for the graphic artists as possible.This helps them build the story.We give the visual answers they make up the questions...

The interior of the cab was amazing, double bunks, touch screen instrumentation and a state of the art drivers chair that would rival any hi end aircraft..

30 days old
