Jessica Soho- Philippines No. 1 Trusted TV Presenter for News/Current Affairs

GMA Network bags the Gold Award for the Most Trusted TV Network for the 2nd consecutive year and Ms. Jessica Soho receives the award as the Philippines No. 1 Trusted TV Presenter for News/Current Affairs.

For the second year in a row, GMA Network, Inc. has been chosen as one of the most trusted brands in Asia in a consumer survey conducted by Reader’s Digest Asia.
GMA News and Public Affairs anchor Jessica Soho was also named as the most trusted news presenter in the Philippines for this year.
GMA Network received the Gold Award in the Television Category in 2010 and again this year.
GMA AVP for Corporate Affairs Teresa Pacis received the award on behalf of the Network during the awarding ceremony held June 2, 2011 at the Resorts World Hotel in Manila.
"GMA is very proud to be recognized by Reader’s Digest Asia and its readers for the second time around. This citation inspires us even more to continue providing balanced programming–top quality entertainment shows and credible news and information programs. More importantly, we will keep on implementing CSR programs that contribute to making the lives of each and every Filipino better," Pacis said.
This is also the second year that the country’s most rewarded journalist Jessica Soho was ranked highly in Reader’s Digest consumer survey.
Last year, she was the third most trusted Filipino after humanitarian Rosa Rosal and international singing superstar Lea Salonga who were ranked number one and number two, respectively.
"I am both proud and humbled to be receiving this recognition from the one magazine that has nurtured my love of reading when I was growing up. I wish more of our young people pick up the habit as well. I also want to share this award with everyone in our News and Public Affairs organization, past and present, who has helped me get to where I am now. It is both a big honor and responsibility for me to be named as the country’s most trusted news presenter," Soho said.
The Gold Trusted Brand Award reflects the Asian consumers’ choice of the most trusted brands in the market. The competing brands were rated based on trustworthiness, credibility, quality, value, understanding of customer needs, ability to innovate and social responsibility.
The Reader’s Digest Asia Trusted Brands Survey was launched in 1999. It is conducted annually and is now on its 13th year. It is carried out in eight countries including China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand . The Trusted Brands survey, which was conducted by research firm Synovate, had 1,000 respondents from the Philippines.

WHO Health Alert- Excessive Use of Cellphone- high risk of cancer

GMA Network's Website, Facebook and Twitter accounts hacked!

GMANews website and GMA's Official Facebook fanpage and Twitter account was hacked! I just learned about this when i visit GMA NETWORK (KAPUSO, ANUMANG TAGUMPAY NG BUHAY) fanpage and the admin posted something like this:

At around 1 a.m., the news agency's Twitter account (@GMANewsOnline) was flooded with the following nasty tweets:

GMA News website was also not accessible during that time. A pop-up saying "Hacked by d4rkb1t" can be found upon visiting the webpage.

"The website of one of the leading television networks in the Philippines has been hacked by a username “D4RKB1T”.
Users are redirected to google.com whenever they tried to enter the network’s website.
“GMA HACKED BY D4RKB1T,” was displayed on the network’s official Facebook fan-page.
The hacker however had managed to explain why he hacked the sites.
“This is not about stupidity, but a message to webdevs [website developers]. Learn to secure your sites, user accounts and passwords with personal information are being stored there. We have to be ready for such cyber terrorism,” the hacker’s statement posted at the GMA’s fan-page. “No ‘database’ was altered or removed.
The hacker continued, “We have to be vigilant on securing sites or else personal information will be leaked.”
“I did not intend to make damage, just make the devs listen! They never respond to my messages telling them about the security hole,” the hacker said.
The hacking lasted for more than 30 minutes.
The TV Network in a statement on its Twitter account said, “We have re-established control of GMANewsOnline. Our apologies for the profanities.”
The identity of the said hacker has yet to be determined.
Last year, the government had expressed alarm over the series of hacking incidents on some of its agencies’ websites.
GMA-7’s website - gmanews.tv, its Facebook and Twitter accounts have been simultaneously hacked on Sunday Morning."
However right now, GMA News has regained its control over the website and its social media accounts.

Due to insistent public demand, GMA News TV will air once more the most talked about debate on television - the RH Bill: The Grand Debate - this Saturday on Channel 11.

Pitting lawmakers versus lawmakers, the church versus the church, and women versus women, GMA News TV brings together debaters from each camp to discuss the impact of the Reproductive Health Bill on the country's economy, on the morality of Filipinos and on the health of women. Compelling arguments for both sides are given equal airtime in this enlightening and often surprising two-hour special.

Rep. Janette Garin, one of the primary authors of the proposed bill is pitted against Rep. Ma. Milagros Magsaysay on the issue of the RH Bill's effect on poverty. Novaliches Bishop Emeritus Teodoro Bacani, Jr. and Bishop Efraim Tendero, National Director of the Philippine Council for Evangelical Churches debate on the issue of morality. Celebrity mom and RH Bill advocate Pia Magalona faces off against University of the Philippines Prof. Aliza Racelis on women's issues in relation to the bill.

A panel of interrogators subject the debaters to intense grilling. Outspoken RH Bill activist Carlos Celdran, former Akbayan Rep. Risa Hontiveros-Baraquel, and UP Prof. Dr. Sylvia Claudio make up the pro-RH panel while the anti-RH panel members are Kalookan Bishop Deogracias Iñiguez Jr., University of Asia and the Pacific College of Arts and Science Dean Antonio Torralba, and Dr. Deane Campo-Cruz. Congressman Manny Pacquiao makes a surprise appearance during the debate.

RH Bill: The Grand Debate gives viewers the chance to quietly listen to both sides and appreciate their arguments. The program aims to shed light on this divisive issue instead of simply generating more heat. Hosted and moderated by Mel Tiangco, together with Pia Arcangel and RJ Ledesma, RH Bill: The Grand Debate airs again this Saturday, May 28, at 10:10 pm.
