Big Jet Plane

Mimco necklace | Adam + Eve leather jacket | Dotti top | Vintage trilby hat | Sportsgirl trackies | Dotti heels

That's right, I've packed six months' worth of living into two tiny cases and I'm off to see the world tomorrow morning! I'll be posting from overseas, so keep in touch. Next stop, San Francisco: the land of FULL HOUSE!

Dreaming in turquoise

Vintage polka dot dress (worn as vest) | Sportsgirl dress | DIY fringed chain necklace by Amanda | Belle by Sigerson Morrison sandals

If you've been following us recently, you'd be familiar with the online designer shoe outlet store The Piscean Shoes. Mei also sent me these lovely sandals from Sigerson Morrison's diffusion line - at $190, it's pretty much the cheapest you can get anywhere (they retail for US$295). I think that is otherwise known as Awesome. She'll be stocking labels such as Miu Miu and Salvatore Ferragamo in coming months, and you'll be sure to hear about it from us. We love supporting Adelaide's up-and-coming fashion retailers!

Thursdays I'm in love

Sportsgirl bandeau, beanie and necklace | Vintage lace bodysuit | Chronicles of Never Neo jeans | Tristan Blair Suesan heels

It's high summer, and along with the excess melanin and ubiquitous grains of sand from days spent lazing on the beach, there always seems to be a vast freedom of emotion that seems to accompany the vertiginous mercury levels. I've spent the last few weeks fluctuating between giddy laughter and silent tears, romance and repulsion, excitement and disappointment, business and boredom. As you might have gathered, it's been a crazy month, so I apologise for the lack of posts.

To the ladies and gentlemen from Adelaide, you'd do well to get your arses along to Youthworks before it closes in March. There's 50-75% off everything - I got these $300 Chronicles of Never jeans for $75! (Definitely up there with the giddy/exciting moments of recent times.)

two oh one oh

Diva earrings and rings | bec & bridge for Sportsgirl one piece swimsuit | Vintage tulle skirt

2010 is finally here, and rather than making doomed resolutions or reminiscing on the year just passed, I find myself pondering pronunciations. Seriously, is it 'two thousand and ten' or 'twenty ten'? I'm leaning toward the former.

This New Year's Eve was interesting, since I won tickets to see Ladyhawke, Muscles and the Bang Gang Deejays live on Sydney Harbour, which resulted in plenty of obnoxious excitement from me. A friend and I had planned a road trip to Sydney since flights were booked out, but the car broke down just when we needed it most, so we had to bail. Despite our disappointment, we managed to pseudo-organise some last-minute shenanigans at a local public pool.

Anyway, you may have noticed that I have made a short disappearance over Christmas but I am certainly not going anywhere. Here's to making the most of life in 2010, even when things don't go our way.

Barbie girl

One Teaspoon watch | Vintage crochet top, sunnies and bangles | Free Fusion singlet | Vintage Sportsgirl skirt | Betts 'Ratty' lace-up flats

Yesterday I was flattered to discover that I was featured as Teen Vogue's girl of the week! (If the answers seem a little strange, it's because they've been edited for the American audience, I suppose.) Hello to all my new readers from across the pond!

Last month Betts shoes sent me these amazing Ratty flats which I honestly cannot stop wearing. They're surely one of the best takes on Ann Demeulemeester's lace-up heels without ripping them off altogether, and on top of that the material is vegan and comfortable - a rare combination. You'll be seeing much more of these in the summer months to come.

My Yeah Yeah Yeahs ticket came in the mail on Friday, but secretly I want to see Taylor Swift...damn my abject poverty!

Strong shoulders

It's no secret that this season's shoulders would make a rugby player proud. But why opt for plain old shoulder pads when you can have these embellished babies?!

Sportsgirl's Metropolis collection, in stores November

Cassette Society, $79.95
The only question is which one?!

EDIT: For those of you interested in DIY-ifying the Cassette Society top, Ricky James has great one!

S'il vous plaƮt ma cherie, allez tomber la chemise

Vintage hat | Vintage Sportsgirl denim dress | Sportsgirl floral tights | Sportsgirl lace-up shoes

Parlez-vous Francais? Oui! Or...non.

The last time this hat (from Melbourne's Camberwell market) saw daylight, a lady with a hunched back and tobacco-infused clothing swiped past me, mumbling: 'Go back to the sixties, woman!' I told her to go back to Frankston. (In my head, because I'm nice. hah.)

My Sportsgirl Weekend in Melbourne

Superflagship is the only way to put it. Chadstone is just super in general.

In the Style Me studio
Adam + Eve leather jacket | TV for Sportsgirl top | Sass & Bide Smokey Gitane jeans | Rubi brogues | Vintage Jane Shilton bag
Shady Lady eye shadow in Brown | Get Cheeky in Bronze | Lighten Up gloss in Talk of the Town - all from Sportsgirl

Some of you may be aware that I recently won Sportsgirl's 'Speak Up' competition, which included a trip to Melbourne and a $1000 Sportsgirl wardrobe. I haven't been to Melbourne since I was about 10, so I had a great time and am very grateful to the lovely team at Sportsgirl. I was driven to the superflagship store in Chadstone by the very same driver that took Ruby Rose last week - he asked me whether I was famous too! Talented stylist Jade took care of me in the lovely Style Me studio, where I was again treated like a VIP. After getting nowhere near $1000 worth of apparel (I couldn't possibly decide in one day and am spending it gradually), I received a mini-makeover from their in-house makeup artist (I think her name was Melody?), all the while being entertained by their fantastic DJ whose name I cannot recall.

The first thing I did when I arrived in Melbourne was go to the Yeojin Bae warehouse sale. Left with the Vintage Lace Marnie Dress in porcelain from her Kaleidoscope Summer 08 collection for just $50!

Although I bought tickets to Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton (the opening night of Marc Jacobs on Film, part of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week) and was very excited to meet Bryan Boy, I wasn't able to go at the last minute due to illness. Boo. Nevertheless I had a great weekend! Mr (Mrs?) Sportsgirl is officially my hero.

On Monday I visited Street: a Melbourne Street Fashion.com Exhibition, which was alright but the place was empty and the exhibition wasn't nearly as big as I expected. It was only a handful street fashion pictures on the walls. Great concept though!

Aren't Melbourne's laneways charming?

xoxo,
Coco

PS: If you're ever in Melbourne, the Camberwell market is a must. It is AMAZING. It's so worth the trip out of the city at 7 on a Sunday morning!
