Van Morrison in His Belfast Rock Group, "Them" Live at Wembley in 1965: Concerts don't get much better than this!

This video is from April 11, 1965 during the time when Van Morrison was the lead singer of, Them.  The band was from Northern Ireland.  It was formed in Belfast in April, 1964.  This was the  group that was responsible for launching Van Morrison's singing career.  The group would ad lib when they performed.  Morrison was known for changing the length of the song depending on his mood.  The group was discovered after a fan had sent a copy of the group performing to Dick Rowe from Decca Records.  He is the same guy who once turned down the Beatles because they had a bad demo.  The group did 2 albums; Angry Young Them in 1965 and Them Again in 1965.  The group was together from 1964 to 1972.  There was a brief time when the group had reunited, but without Morrison. Gloria which was recorded in 1964 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. In 1966 the group had traveled to America and performed at the Whiskey a Go Go in L.A.  The opening act for the group was Jim Morrison and the Doors. Van Morrison had gone on to do a solo career and has written thousands of songs and  recorded many albums.  He is still immensely popular today.
