A Pre-Wedding Night Out

I said a few days ago I would post pics of my night out on Saturday. After the fabulous afternoon to celebrate our wedding in 2 weeks, Nicks sister and brothers partners took me out for the night. It was an unofficial hens night I guess, we'll be doing a night out in Rarotonga before the wedding, but this was a small celebration at home.

Nicks sister rented a pretty awesome apartment right in central Wellington and the night went from there!

Yea...that is a balcony!
And me on the balcony...
And this was the view from the balcony.
Cute glasses all lined up...on standby!
My awesomely cute new heels.
After we finally got in to the apartment, 5 girls....we had issues with keypads and doors with out signs and a general lack of direction where to  collect the key. Anyway we finally got in and left...for dinner!

Pork Buns
Chicken and Cashew
We settled on a Chinese restaurant that was BYO. Ok...the BYO was the most important thing! Does anyone know what the yellow things in the dish are? I'd really love to know so I can make sure I never have them again. The rest was delicious...but the yellow things...not so much.

We ventured to the supermarket for necessities and I got to continue playing with my new camera.

Courtney Place
The Embassy Theatre
I thought I was safe when we got back to the apartment...I mean it was close to midnight. I was totally ready to sleep lol. Such a party animal I am... but no apparently after having some lazy wines it was time to go out.

This was taken sometime between 2 and 3am...
We finally made it back to the apartment about 4.30am, after a stop at a random pizza place...and crashed on the couches. My feet were killing me...but at least my shoes were cute!

So anyway....thanks Angela, Anna, Nicola and Jess for a fabulous night out. I really am looking forward to being your sister.

Shindig Pictures

I'm absolutely spoilt.

I had a fantastic day on Saturday and was so pleased to see everyone at the afternoon tea.
Everything went smoothly, there were no cringe worthy games but there were a few fun ones, that everyone loved. I really should scan and upload some of the dresses that people designed for me to wear. Some of the drawings are hilarious. There was delicious food. Actually the food you just need to see! I was very spoilt.

Amazing biscuits thanks to Nicks Sister
Absolutely gorgeous cupcakes thanks to our close family friend Gail .  The stand was my present to keep! (as well as the cupcakes)
I was even more spoilt though, Nicks sister and family were kind enough to decorate a glass for everyone. They painted them with blue and added gold hearts. They looked amazing for everyone to toast with, and take as a keepsake. They added a white ribbon to the base with the date 2.7.11.

Decorated glasses
Apparently on Friday night they were all in the kitchen. I had no idea and went into the kitchen to use the computer. Nick followed me through and was apparently blocking them from my sight the whole time. I had no idea lol.

And of course an obligatory picture of me. I decided to wear a black ruffled dress that shows off my boobs and a berry coloured cardigan. Actually the cardigan is the exact colour of OPI Dim Sim Plum, which I wore on my nails!

Me looking ready to face the guests! I really need a haircut, but I have to wait another week for my appointment. Just let me know if you want to know any of the make up I'm wearing. It's a ridiculously easy look to do!

OPI Dim Sim Plum looking rather odd under my cameras flash.
I hope all the Americans are having a fabulous 4th of July. I know I've been feeling inspired to do a stars and stripes mani after seeing all the gorgeous 4th of July nails!

Tomorrow I'll be posting the pictures from our night out on Saturday!

Today's the Shindig

I didn't think I'd have time to post this weekend...but here I am at 6am posting.
I have a tendency to wake early when I'm nervous, worried or excited. Today I'm nervous.

Today I will be the centre of attention. Not a place I like to be!
Mum is having an afternoon tea to celebrate my wedding, I guess most people would call it a Bridal Shower or a Kitchen Tea...but to be honest we avoided naming it and just invited everyone to afternoon tea. I didn't want to use a term that implied presents. I just want a nice afternoon of girlishness and delicious food.
There are 24ish people coming. Ranging from family members, including brothers partners, to old family friends, to work mates. My best friend and bridesmaid isn't able to come as she lives in Christchurch and my other friends from school are either not in the country or about to pop! Well one is due to have her baby girl next week.

I guess I better show off some gorgeous polish! Today I wanted to show off Essie Shindig, in honour of the Shindig today... I have shown Shindig before, but these are much better pictures!

Quick drawing

Well I slept in today and have been running late all day now.

I gave up on the idea of going out, I was running too late, and have since spent the day at the computer.
I've been working on a drawing for school and a logo for my parents.

I hadn't used my tablet in a while...So I had a little play around to practice.

So here's my play around...
No prizes for guessing what I was drawing today! Only 5 weeks to go... :S

Shopping

Yesterday was a disappointing shopping day. I'd decided exactly what I wanted to buy... and I couldn't find anything, or it wasn't on special. I wanted to buy a grill and a new camera.

Our grill/sandwich press had an unfortunate accident where it met the tiles on the kitchen floor. The tiles are fine, the grill was not. Do you think I could find anything that came close to what I was looking for? Nothing. Everything was either too big or too sandwichy. We cook a lot of our meat using the grill, so it needed to be meaty. So I went home with out a grill, but I'm going to buy one on Monday. I found the perfect size one at Briscoes. After I got home.

We stopped to look at wedding bands... We did find some we liked, but have decided we are too indecisive and need mum to help.

We went to the pet store...I left with nothing.

Then we continued our hunt for a new camera. My camera is highly cute and pink, but it has hissy fits if I want it to take pics in low light. With the wedding coming up I wanted a camera that would handle taking pictures in any situation. I'm a photo person, I always have a camera on me. So I wanted the best possible pictures to remember our wedding and honeymoon. Anyway here's my old camera...

Fuji z33 WP
Yes, it's waterproof. That's pretty awesome. It has a nifty function that re sizes images to blog suitable sizes. It's still going to be coming with us to Rarotonga. It's a fabulous camera for down at the beach.

But my new toy...is pretty cool...

Canon Ixus 115 HS
I was also lucky enough to pick up two new book shelves for our study. One shelf will hold Nick's lego collection (I collect nail polish so I don't really comment if he buys lego lol) and the other is for my nail polish. They are slightly darker than our two shelves...but that's ok. Nick made one last night and promised to make the other today. As soon as I've got my collection sorted on my new shelf I will post pictures.

Anyway off to read my new camera manual and play with it! I took some macro's of my nails last night under the lamp light and omg it was awesome. They came out true to life colour wise and were really nice and clear. I don't need to wait for sunny days anymore!

More Mattes

I feel like I'm having a quarter life crisis! Well maybe not that extreme...but do you ever feel like you haven't found yourself yet? Maybe I'm just not a Junior teacher, I love teaching middles however.

I didn't get a choice this year, I was kind of told I was teaching Juniors...and it's not very me. It's making me question if I really want to teach. But then if I wasn't a teacher, what else would I do? I'd love to teach art actually. I'd love to stay at home and be creative lol.

I love working with kids, but I'm not into politics, or being judged.

Anyway enough of my rambling...here's some polish. I decided to continue the matte theme and these are the two Revlon mattes I picked up.

Powder Puff
First up is Powder Puff a very pretty delicate white with blue shimmer. Powder Puff is a pretty white I'd actually wear. It's not stark in anyway. It does take a little to dry, and it's not the mattest matte, but it is pretty.

Emerald City
Emerald City is a gorgeous green matte with shimmer. Honestly it's just plain amazing. I meant to just pick up Powder Puff, but I couldn't resist the awesomeness of Emerald City.

They're both not the mattest mattes but they don't dry to a shiny creme. So still matte.

My Last Tronicas and Why the Wii is My Friend

I've posted all but two of my Tronica polishes. By all, I only have 5! So I've posted the majority but not these two. So here's Gamer Glam and Techno Teal.

Techno Teal
I wanted Techno Teal since I saw pictures comparing it to DV8, a polish I haven't been able to get my hands on. I love teals and turquoises. Anything with a blue/green or green/blue is right up my alley. I love Techno Teal, it has the same pretty holo sprinkling that the Tronicas seem to have, and the colour is just so darn pretty. Techno Teal was the last Tronica that I acquired and it's filled my leeming for Tronicas. I haven't been searching for them since!

Gamer Glam
Gamer Glam was the reason I needed polishes from this collection in the first place. I just wanted to be able to paint my nails and sit down next to Nick while he was playing his xbox or ps3 and say 'hey darling, my nails are Gamer Glam'. When I told him the name of the polish he was actually interested...he was on a bit of a Tron kick though. Anyway I love Gamer Glam, it's pretty and purple and has an awesome name that related to my life outside of nail polish.

In other news the Wii Fit and I are still friends. Since my passing out episode on Tuesday I haven't exercised and was kind of dreading the idea of weighing myself...but it told me I'd lost weight still. So far I've lost 4kg now.

I started at 71kg (156 pounds) and that was the heaviest I have ever been, emotional eating does that to you...mmmm hells pizza. Anyway after 3 weeks I'm now at 67kg ( 148 pounds). 67kg is my normal weight so my dress should fit me again when I have my dress fitting on Wednesday night. For the wedding I'd like to lose a little more though, just so I can look back at the pictures of  me in a bikini and say 'yeah I actually looked alright'. I figured I'll be wearing a bikini a lot seeing as the wedding's in RAROTONGA!!!!! yeah!!! Can you tell I'm getting excited! Only 8 more weeks to go!

The awesome thing about my diet and exercise routine (when I have the energy to start exercising again, yay iron pills) is I love eating salad and homemade chicken soup. I also love doing exercise at home...where other people can't see how un co-ordinated I am! I can't wait to start Zumba and Biggest Loser up again on alternative days. I'm going to give it a try tomorrow when Nick's home....just in case I have issues with blacking out again!

Girly Orly's

Ahhhh! I had one of those mornings today. Actually it's been 'one of those' last couple of days!

I managed to blow a fuse and sink half my house into darkness, Nick missed his bus so I had to drive 40min to drop him in (when I wasn't ready and had to be at school), Mum's birthday was on Monday, it was Mothers Day Sunday...and mum's sick.

Oh and did I mention my dress fitting is only 2 weeks away...Ahhhh!

In awesometastic news the wii tells me I lost 2kg last week....so if I can just keep doing that losing weight thing...maybe the dress fitting will go ok! It just has to stay off until July 22nd! Good thing I love salad. Shame I'm not as keen on the exercise, but I'll keep it up!

talking off losing weight for weddings and other girly things...
Here's two gorgeously girly Orlys.

Catch the Bouquet
Catch the Bouquet is such a pretty girly polish. Shimmering baby pink with a pale blue flash and what could be a glass flecked finish. Oh so girly. Shame it's uber sheer and I have no patience...4 coats and all aboard  to glob-ville! If I had patience I wouldn't have that problem...

Supernatural
The bottle's not near me, and google wasn't much help, so I'm not sure if it's Supernatural or Super Natural...but that doesn't change the awesomness of this polish. So much more than a tired old neutral...Supernatural is a warm pink with stunning gold shimmer. Seriously it's pretty cool. I like it anyway!

What I Wanted...

Well, what I wanted was not what I got for tea. All I wanted was delicious Hells Pizza. A large Pandemonium (chicken, cranberry and brie) and chicken tenders to share with Nick. Actually I changed my mind...not to share. He's mocking my spelling.

What I had for tea was salad...lettuce, tomato and cucumber. With a mince pattie I made with just mince from the left over mince I cooked Nick in his delicious smelling pasta...

I love salad...but mmmm pizza would have been good!

Oh well, it's all worth it for the wedding!

In awesome nail pictures, it's been raining heavily on and off today and most of the week actually. I haven't been able to take any new pictures. The good news is you wont have to look at my stubby broken nail as it grows out! In the mean time here's BB Couture Sea of Cortez.

Sea of Cortez.
Wow! Sea of Cortez is an amazing blue with awesome glitter. It's such a pretty polish. Like omg stare at my nails pretty. Yes, there's some visible nail line on me, but I put that down to my crazy nail whites and my laziness to do another coat! Everyone that loves blue needs Sea of Cortez.

I has muscles...they hurts.

Day two back at school and I'm so exhausted already! Thank goodness I have a release day on Thursday! The kids are tired out as well. They just start wilting after lunch, they couldn't even play cat and mouse today.

It doesn't really help that it's just under 3 months until our wedding. I have a dress fitting in one month...
so it's crazy diet and exercise time. I kept meaning to get back into exercising...this is just the push I needed I guess. I'm really not into gyms and exercising in front of other people. I draw the curtains when I exercise at home even. So I've been hanging out with the Wii. Wii Fit and The Biggest Loser to be precise. Biggest loser every 2nd day and wii Fit everyday. It's day 3 and I just did my first Biggest Loser work out in a long time...I have muscles in my stomach. I know I do, because they hurt! I couldn't bear to hoola hoop on the wii fit today so I went for a walk to the supermarket and carried my shopping home instead.
At least the wii fit tells me I lost weight....so it can be my friend still!

Here's something totally un-nail related...my new hair clip!

Personally I think it's awesome. I love bows at the moment. I'm eyeing a very nice pair of silver studs that just so happen to be incredibly cute bows. And it has sparkle! What's not to love? I'm finding myself letting me hair be at the moment. Rather than straightening it embracing the wave.

No You Can't Come In!

Thursday, and I'm finally going back into school to sort my class out for Monday next week when the kids come back. I actually hate being in school at the holidays. It's creepy with no kids!

It's another glum day, not raining, but still cloudy and cold. I wish I could stay in my toasty lounge with a blanket today. Since it's such a cloudy blah day, here's some pics of a gorgeous polish in sunshine! Another Tronica polish I managed to find on ebay.

3D Fantasy is a gorgeous coral shade. I'm really into coral at the moment. anyway here's pictures.

3D Fantasy
There's a very cute kitten outside my door meowing at me as though I'm a bad person. The trouble is I don't have a kitten and as much as I'd love to let it in...I can't. So no kitty you can't come in! It has a collar and looks well loved, there's been no missing cat notices in the letterbox. I think it just wants attention while it's owners are out. It's not the first time...it actually got into the house the other day. That was a mission getting it out. I can't leave the door open now!

In other cute pictures check out Clio and Jaz's idea of a great place to sleep...

In the egg carton I gave them to play with...crazy girls!

And this is the new exercise regime Nick has put Barnabas on.

Nick thought Barnabas was getting too fat and wasn't using the wheel in his cage. It's hilarious watching this little green bubble roll around the floor though.
