Brrrrr Cold Mornings!

Well I just go back from dropping Nick down to the bus. It's pitch black outside and there's a misty layer over the valley where we live. It's freezing.

Normally when I got back I'd be up and doing things, but it's so cold this morning I made my breakfast and climbed back into bed with it!

My credit card is getting paid off and replaced with a debit card soon. I'll still be able to purchase things online...but I have to put money on to it first. So I'll actually have to watch my spending.  I'm trying very hard to resist the Essie Resort collection for this year... Safari theme...mmmm!

Anyway here's a few Lippmanns to warm your morning!

Glitter in the Air

A Very Special Birthday!

Last weekend we attended a very special birthday party.

Our highly awesome nephew and godson turned 5!

Cat and the Hat theme cake. Mummy did an amazing job of his cake!
Just before the tears that the sparkler candles wouldn't blow out!
It was a very awesome birthday party for a soon to be 5 year old. His mum did an amazing job, to throw the party together at such short notice so that his great grandparents could participate. Bradley now has to wait 2 weeks through the holidays, before he starts school next term! I can't wait to see him in his little uniform.

My Life Saver with a dose of Happy Birthday
These are my special birthday party nails. A bit of Bieber and a massive Happy Birthday!

On a side note...I will not be wearing My Life Saver on my fingers again. Even with a base coat I have crazy staining.  Green tinges are not sexy!

The Headaches Kicking In...

I'm not a very good drinker. It's not that I can't drink, I can do that! I'm just not good the next day...

Nick drinks, then sleeps. He can sleep anything off.
I drink...then I wake up. I get back to sleep...then I wake up again, with a headache, dry mouth and omg hungriness. I just can never sleep it off. I mean I've been awake since 5am.

In saying that we had an awesome night. Harry Potter...Rock Band...Daiquiri Slushie...yup that is a recipe for success!

These are the nails I rocked all week. OPI I Vant To Be A-Lone Star with a nice healty layer of Lippman Today Was A Fairytale. Perfect rockstar nails...for an evening of rockband. Well they would have been if they lasted, but I couldn't handle the cracking and took them off before my rock band debut.

***Edit*** I now feel rather content and happy!

More Rain...Across the Universe

The Autumn weather is starting here in New Zealand.

It's cold, it's raining, I'm sniffly and very tired from parent teacher interviews the last two nights.
At least my sleepy patterns are returning to normal. Thanks Daylight Savings for making me wake up so freaking early!

So while I'm rubbing my eyes and trying to wake up, here's some Deborah Lippmann goodness. Across the Universe.

Across the Universe
Across the Universe is an awesome concept, I thought I'd love it instantly, just like Bad Romance. I didn't. I had to use four coats to cover up my nail whites. I didn't have patience to wait...so it ended up looking gloopy and thick on my nail. I think over a blue jelly, Across the Universe will look amazing. I love the colour, I love the glitter. I just don't love gloopy and thick on my nail. It's not the polishs fault. It's my lack of patience and annoyingly white nail tips.

Glitter in Nice

I'm starting to feel very stressed.
We have an art exhibition of the kids work at school, we have parent teacher interviews (which I must do a portfolio for each child for), Nick has a work function and my house is a mess.

Luckily Nice is nice is a very calming shade to wear. I added Glitter in the Air and I think this a very calm, peaceful combination. At least it's working for me!

Glitter in the Air over Nice is Nice
Look at the pretty micro glitters! I just thought Glitter in the Air had large and smaller blue and pink glitters, but there is tiny micro glitter in blue and pink as well. So very pretty!

Birthday Suit

I felt like wearing a glamorous yet subtle polish. So on Wednesday night I applied Deborah Lippmann Naked.
Naked is the perfect creamy nude. It applied beautifully and was perfect after 3 thin coats.

Please excuse the state of my hands, I took these photos after a day at school. We were mostly doing art, so I had my hands in water a lot for the clean up. Luckily the polish withstood it!

Late last night I go a text saying that Nicks brothers partner was going into labour. Their beautiful baby boy was born this morning at 5.31am. In my own quiet celebration, I applied Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday to my Naked nails.

Late last night with flash
Full sunlight
Sparkling in the shade.
Now I'm off to hunt down a couple of BYS polishes. I bought Down the Rabbit Hole the other day and didn't realise I was going to need Through the Looking Glass and Adventures of Alice as well! BYS also have some funky colour changing polishes, so we'll see what I come back with! Then its work work work for me :(

Caught in a Bad Romance...

I've been drooling over pictures of Deborah Lippmann's Bad Romance for what seems like forever. When I finally found a seller that sold reasonably priced Lippmann's and would ship them cheaply to New Zealand, they never seemed to have Bad Romance in stock.

Luckily I finally caught them on a day when they not only had Bad Romance but also Across the Universe!

Bad Romance and Across the Universe
I waited patiently for them to arrive. I actually had almost 2 weeks with out receiving any packages! I was jealous of our neighbour. (But then you probably saw in my last few posts I kind of made up for not getting any packages...they all came at once.) When they finally arrived I squealed a high pitch girly squeal and raced inside to play.

Two coats of perfection and I have the sexiest nails ever. Bad Romance you are the sexiest polish I own.
I'm still drooling!

Super Moon Day

It's a beautiful sunshiney day!

I plan on spending my day swatching and cleaning the house. Although I need to pick up more cotton swabs and polish remover first! Maybe I can find some delicious bacon and hashbrowns on special for breakfast.

Happy Super Moon Day...I hope no one is freaking about natural disasters. We'll be having drinks in Wellington tonight...right on one of the major fault lines in New Zealand.

Some of the beauties I plan to swatch today are...

Zoya Mattes
Zoya Reverie Collection
Lippmanns!!!
Wicked Sweet...yum!
Starry Temptress...tempting!
Older Sally Hansens I picked up cheaply.
Borghese nudes...options for wedding?
More Borghese I picked up cheaply.
Nicoles...ohhhh...the colours! Rainbow...

Lippmann Glitters

On Saturday I was so excited and couldn't wait to try my new Lippmann glitters. I had high hopes for some sunshine, it is Summer after all. Unfortunately, no sun, but I did try out my new glitters!

One coat, Today Was A Fairytale
Today Was A Fairytale is such a stunning polish. Blue grey base with the sparkliest silver glitter I have ever seen. Today Was a Fairytale contains virgin diamond powder. In all honesty I don't know what that is, but if it helps it sparkle...then I like it. This is definitely a special occasion polish that I will leave for layering.

Three coats of Today Was a Fairytale

I really liked Today Was a Fairytale, but both these stunning glitter polishes are going in my special occasion stash. I don't want to ever run out!

One coat of Boom Boom Pow
Boom Boom Pow id more delicate and does not have as much coverage as Today Was a Fairytale. I really like that Boom Boom Pow isn't just a gold version of Today Was a Fairytale. Boom Boom Pow contains 24k gold dust. I'm going to guess that the gold dust is the pretty delicate gold shimmer.

Three coats of Boom Boom Pow
Boom Boom Pow does layer up nicely, but I doubt I'll wear it alone. Only because I don't want to use it all! I actually like the look of it alone, kind of magical...
